Colors

I finally decided on exact colors since I am making my dress and know I am not gonna be able to find everything in exact same colors. I am using several different shades of red and rust as well as ivory and white with the black. I may add a little yellow as well as I am planning on using fall leaves and possibly sunflowers in with the bouquets.

So the dress has changed again...

I couldn't find a dress I absolutely LOVED that was in a price range I was willing to pay (I think it's absolutely ridiculous how much people will pay for a dress they are only going to wear once) so I decided.......*drumroll, please!*...........That I am making my dress :) Not completely from scratch, but almost. I found a plain white strapless dress for $12. Yes, $12! I am completely changing the look of it though. I have already attached apple red ribbon around the top and grommet tape down the back to create the look of a corset and I have deconstructed a slip from david's bridal. The solid white fabric I attached to the skirt of the dress because it really needed a lining. I am planning on dying the tulle netting various fall colors (several shades of red, yellow, orange, and tan) and attaching it underneath the lining so it just peeks out below. I am also going to embroider fall leaves in reds, rusts, and champagne colors on the bodice and attach another apple red ribbon around the waist. I will post pictures of my progress as more is made, at the moment its still kinda rough.

Sorry it's been a while

Sorry guys, it's been like 2 weeks since my last post. Shannon had some major dental work done and I've been taking care of her, haven't gotten back into the swing of daily wedding plans. While I really love the dress I showed you in one of my last posts, I gotta say I have been falling in love with some of the weddings on Offbeat Bride that have brides in very non-traditional dresses and I am totally considering spending about a forth the price on a pin-up style sundress, like one of these at Pin-up Girl Clothing

Making my own wedding invites?

After browsing through thousands upon thousand of wedding invites in catalogs and on Etsy I have come to the conclusion that I could make something I like much better for a lot less. It would be a lot easier if I still had photoshop on my computer, but alas all I have is paint (i know, i know, i DESPERATELY need to update my computer!) Anyway, this is just one idea so far.
It's not quite this bright, my scanner sucks, it's a deeper red color, more like this font color, but you get the idea.

I found THE DRESS!!!

So I totally found THE DRESS I want to wear for my wedding!! It's Tea Length, white, corseted back, and I am getting a red sash and red petticoats like in the bottom picture. I am absolutely in love with this dress! And if it wasn't for all the shipping charges since it is coming from the UK it would be cheap. It's still cheaper for the dress, 2 petticoats, and the sash then it is for just the dress that I kinda sorta liked from David's Bridal. I so can't wait for my order to come in!

Another Possible Venue

So after about the 6th e-mail with the people at 21c I have discovered that there is a $4050 food and beverage minimum so this location may be out. I am quite disappointed, but I'll have to deal. Another, closer, possible venue is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington. If you've been to Bloomington and driven by the stadium at IU, you've seen this church. It's right across the road from the stadium at the corner by the stop light. While this location doesn't have quite the feel we were going for it is closer and I'm sure much less expensive.

Possible wedding favors

So, I'm thinking about hand painting some little 5x7 canvas panels and attaching an engagement picture of us and a thank you note to the back to use as wedding favors. Like? Dislike? I'd love to hear feed back. Each painting would be different, here's just one idea:

21cHotel Museum

Ok, so I am COMPLETELY loving the 21C Hotel Museum in Louisville, KY. I would love to have the wedding and reception here, but I am not completely sure that my guests would be willing to drive the 70 miles from Bedford to the hotel. It is so beautiful and artistic and gorgeous and amazing though!

Off-Beat Bride

I found another site that I love as well! Off-Beat Bride is great for anyone that wants a unique, original, one-of-a-kind wedding! I love love love some of the ideas on this site! (ok, quite a few of them I would never do myself, but there is quite a lot that I adore!)

So you're enGAYged?

So I am totally in love with the site So you're enGAYged It has really been helpful in making plans and getting ideas for our wedding and I love the engagement pics section. I totally teared up looking at the pics and the looks of love on the faces of all those couples. I can't wait til we get our pics done!

Tattoo Cake Topper

I also *love* this custom engraved cake topper. How cool is that?!

Sock Monkey Cake Topper

Are you serious?!?! I love this Sock Monkey Cake Topper on Etsy. It is so freakin cute!

Ok, so I love these invitations too :)

These invites over on Etsy are very much us too. Really it depends on the look and feel we decide to go with for the wedding. Who knows, I'll probably find 20 or 30 more I like before we order, lol.

Wedding Invites

I fell in love with these wedding invitations on
Etsy. They are so original and so totally us :) Will they be the final choice? Who knows, possibly!

Photographer For Engagement Pics

We have picked a photographer for our Engagement Pics. She does really great work, check it out @ Venus Leah Photography.

She's reasonably priced too which is great since we're on a tight budget :)

Wedding Planning Has Begun!

Hey guys, I started this little page to keep you all up to date on our wedding plans. We officially began the planning process and will be having our engagement pictures taken shortly. We have decided that we are going to be legally married on May 14, 2011, the date we officially chose to begin with in Boston and then will have a ceremony here in Indiana on October 14, 2011 (exactly 2 years from the time we got together) to celebrate with all of our friends and family. I can't wait to celebrate with you all! We plan on making the wedding an expression of us and our love for one another, so expect the unexpected!
