I finally decided on exact colors since I am making my dress and know I am not gonna be able to find everything in exact same colors. I am using several different shades of red and rust as well as ivory and white with the black. I may add a little yellow as well as I am planning on using fall leaves and possibly sunflowers in with the bouquets.

So the dress has changed again...
I couldn't find a dress I absolutely LOVED that was in a price range I was willing to pay (I think it's absolutely ridiculous how much people will pay for a dress they are only going to wear once) so I decided.......*drumroll, please!*...........That I am making my dress :) Not completely from scratch, but almost. I found a plain white strapless dress for $12. Yes, $12! I am completely changing the look of it though. I have already attached apple red ribbon around the top and grommet tape down the back to create the look of a corset and I have deconstructed a slip from david's bridal. The solid white fabric I attached to the skirt of the dress because it really needed a lining. I am planning on dying the tulle netting various fall colors (several shades of red, yellow, orange, and tan) and attaching it underneath the lining so it just peeks out below. I am also going to embroider fall leaves in reds, rusts, and champagne colors on the bodice and attach another apple red ribbon around the waist. I will post pictures of my progress as more is made, at the moment its still kinda rough.

Sorry it's been a while

Sorry guys, it's been like 2 weeks since my last post. Shannon had some major dental work done and I've been taking care of her, haven't gotten back into the swing of daily wedding plans. While I really love the dress I showed you in one of my last posts, I gotta say I have been falling in love with some of the weddings on Offbeat Bride that have brides in very non-traditional dresses and I am totally considering spending about a forth the price on a pin-up style sundress, like one of these at Pin-up Girl Clothing

Making my own wedding invites?

After browsing through thousands upon thousand of wedding invites in catalogs and on Etsy I have come to the conclusion that I could make something I like much better for a lot less. It would be a lot easier if I still had photoshop on my computer, but alas all I have is paint (i know, i know, i DESPERATELY need to update my computer!) Anyway, this is just one idea so far.
It's not quite this bright, my scanner sucks, it's a deeper red color, more like this font color, but you get the idea.
I found THE DRESS!!!

So I totally found THE DRESS I want to wear for my wedding!! It's Tea Length, white, corseted back, and I am getting a red sash and red petticoats like in the bottom picture. I am absolutely in love with this dress! And if it wasn't for all the shipping charges since it is coming from the UK it would be cheap. It's still cheaper for the dress, 2 petticoats, and the sash then it is for just the dress that I kinda sorta liked from David's Bridal. I so can't wait for my order to come in!

Another Possible Venue

So after about the 6th e-mail with the people at 21c I have discovered that there is a $4050 food and beverage minimum so this location may be out. I am quite disappointed, but I'll have to deal. Another, closer, possible venue is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington. If you've been to Bloomington and driven by the stadium at IU, you've seen this church. It's right across the road from the stadium at the corner by the stop light. While this location doesn't have quite the feel we were going for it is closer and I'm sure much less expensive.
